Africa 2012 – BUFFALO

It’s all set. In August 2012 I’m off to Mozambique with Gunsite instructor Il Ling New and Sheriff Jim Wilson to hunt buffalo. I’ll be using a Marlin lever action rifle along with products from Swarovksi, XS Sights, Buffalo Bore ammunition, Mountain Khakis, Ruger  and Galco on this hunt.

Over the next few months I will be posting weekly updates on the preparation for this hunt. Everything from why I chose the gear that I did to readying the gear and range practice will be covered. All that is necessary with regard to travel, outfitter arrangements and trophy shipment will be covered too.

Call it a hillbilly safari if you like; who else would take a lever gun and a six shooter to Africa?

    Cool…what outfitter/coutada?

If you are going to shoot Mr. Buff with a lever gun, ensure the first shot is a good one! 😉

    Il Ling can advise you…

Hope you have a great time and bring back some good stories. And another head for the wall! You’ll be getting back right before I leave for my first-ever hunting trip outside of South Dakota and Kentucky, caribou in Alaska. Here’s hoping that there’s nothing hunting either one of us while we’re spotting and stalking! Looking forward to hearing about your preparations for the trip.
