Robotic Moose Target! Well, kinda.

Here is FMG editor Sammy Reese shooting the robot at Gunsite which was equipped with a moose target. Gunsite instructor Il Ling New set this up for me back in September, in preparation for my moose hunt in October. Who says gunwriters cannot shoot. Sammy is wearing this paper moose out. (It even had a hairy tail – a squirrel tail the guys in the target shack attached just for fun.) Of course, Sammy had a good teacher.

Notice how this moose runs just as fast backwards as it does forwards. That’s one talented, moon walking moose. I didn’t see any that could do that in Sweden. Maybe Alaska?

  1. Jim Dodd says:

I expect that Il Ling – great coach that she is — had some bolt manipulation coaching for the shooter! Been there, done that, got the coaching…

  2. I can’t remember if it was Sweden or Finland, but their hunting license requirements for moose envolved hitting a moving moose target. The target was two-headed so it could be run in either direction.
