Western Powders’ Ballistics Lab

Western Powders in Miles City, Montana distribute the Ramshot and Accurate powder lines. They also have a first-rate ballistics lab and do a great deal of ballistics testing for a lot of different companies. For example, they might test 5.56 ammo produced for government contracts to verify it meets spec and generates the necessary port pressure to reliably cycle M4 rifles.

Several years back I spent a few days working with the smart guys at the Western Powders lab trying to blow up an in-line muzzle loader while playing with black powder and various substitutes…But that is another story.

I thought you might be interested in seeing inside their facility so here are a few photos from Western Powders.

One Response to Western Powders’ Ballistics Lab

  1. Having been to Western Powders and knowing some of the people that work there, it would be hard to find a better company.
