SIG’s Micro 9mm

Talk about small 9mm handguns. Funny how we are celebrating the 100th birthday of the 1911 – a big pistol – and the new gun rage is pocket size 9mms. Kimber has the SOLO which is not entirely un-1911 (It has a manual safety and is not plastic.) and Ruger the LC9. Both weigh 17 ounces. SIGs entry into this itty bitty market is the P290 at 20.5 ounces.

Sig's newest Nine - The P290

I’ll be testing the SIG P290 for an upcoming issue of Guns & Weapons for Law Enforcement. My first impression is this is damn small for a 9mm and the bore axis seems a bit high. It will interesting to see what recoil is like.

Will try to run a short video here by weeks end on this pistol’s first trip to the range.
