Spent most of yesterday range testing the new youth sized X-Bolt from Browning. They call it the Micro Midas. Not a big fan of the name but it is indeed a fine shooting rifle. It’s also sized right for young shooters.
The Gunwriter Assistant is about five feet tall and weighs about 85 pounds. Even with a total rifle weight of seven pounds (the scope weighed one pound) he was able to heft it for off-hand shooting. The 12.5 inch length of pull helped a great deal. And, the soft butt-pad cushioned the recoil of the 7mm-08.
A full review of this rifle will appear in a new general rifle and shooting magazine from Harris Publications.
