A Rifle that will REALLY shoot!

In preparation for a Texas mule deer and Del Carmen whitetail hunt next week I sighted in my R 15 in .30 Rem AR with 125 gr. AccuTips. But, just in case I need to make a long shot, Remington loaned me a model 700 XCR Tactical Long Range rifle in .300 Win Mag.

My goodness, this rifle will shoot! It averaged 0.31 inch for three, three-shot groups at 100 yards using Barnes Vortex ammunition loaded with 180 gr. Tipped TSX bullets.

Richard, I just finished reading”Rifle Bullets for the Hunter”. I really enjoyed it. Do you still live in West Virginia? I have applied for a position in Hardy County (2-3) year term. Do you know what I could expect for shooting opportinties in this area? Any Information would be helpful.

    Shoot straight and shoot often,

Moorefield, WV is about 30 minutes from my hunting camp in Hampshire Co. Don’t know of any local ranges but this link might help: http://www.wvdnr.gov/hunting/SRanges.shtm#SRd2

There are plenty of deer in Hardy and Hampshire. Also CWD in Hampshire. Bear there too. Shot a nice boar this year. There is a lot of civil war history in the area, especially around Romney. In fact, a guerrilla leader of the Confederacy was based in Moorefield. His house is still there.

Moorefield is a nice old time town with good folks and a great high school football team. I live about four hours away in Princeton.

    Best of luck,
