First Blood of 2010

Opening day of squirrel season was today. The Gunwriter Assistant and I stepped out behind the house and he took his first squirrel of 2010.

Custom Ruger 10-22 with Blackhawk Stock, Shooter's Ridge barrel, Weaver 2-7X Rimfire scope and Timney Trigger. 40 yards with CCI Velocitor.

I have to leave tomorrow for a Wyoming antelope hunt with my .30 Rem. AR and will miss his last regular season game and first playoff game.

I hate that. At least we got a short hunt this morning.

    Atta boy!

That’s an pretty nice rifle for a beginning shooter. My first rabbit was taken with a Marlin 60 and I learned just how devastating those CCI Stingers could be.

Nice job “gunwriter assistant” I can’t wait til my little man is old enough to take out out to shoot.

Funny thing, Bat killed three deer before he got his first squirrel.
